The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM Lens focuses very fast, very quietly and very accurately thanks to Canon's excellent Ring USM (Ultrasonic Motor). FTM (Full Time Manual) focusing is enabled. The focus and zoom rings are very nicely sized and turn very smoothly.
Version II is about 0.2 brighter than version I. Generally speaking, version II has slightly better border and corner sharpness than the previous version but nothing to write home about. Version II seems to be slightly worse than version I at 24mm. They are about the same at intermediate FLs (50mm to 70mm).

If you’re not too bothered about being able to shoot at f/2, the Canon 24-70 RF f/2.8 IS USM could be worth a look. It’s lighter and smaller than the 28-70mm, and you get an extra 4mm of focal
You can also use this lens with peace of mind if you want to take backlit shots that include the sun in the frame. Top quality build and optics. Good (but not perfect) range on a crop camera. You will be missing ultra-wide (24mm is like 35 mm on a full frame camera) and f/4 is not ultra-fast. Personally I shoot with primes, nothing slower than f/2.8, but I often use them at f/4 or more stepped down.
